Perhaps the most important thing we learned this week is that NEXT week there is to be a tribe swap. Yippee!! The anticipation and wonderment abound!! Who might end up with whom? Whose efforts to keep an alliance afloat will have been for naught? Pondering these questions all but drove thoughts of what happened this week out of my mind. It's almost as if this week's events don't matter, which of course is simply not true. For one thing, Ozzy found the Hidden Immunity Idol, and still has it. YAY! For another thing, Mikey is gone but the editing never really let us get to know him, so that doesn't really count.
Thinking about the tribe swap I realize that it's more likely than not that we've only seen the stories we needed to see. That's why so many people have had so little facetime. Eliza, Jonathan, Cirie, Kathy, Tracy, Joel, Parvati, Ozzy. Half of a season's complement of 20 have had substantial screentime. Also let's bear in mind that even those people have not had everything to do with them shown. We didn't see anything of Joel's efforts to get a 5th person to boot Chet, other than the end result (and it was Natalie!), but maybe that's because he won't be with her post-swap. Or he won't last very long, period.
What of the couples? Odds favor at least one of them being split up. Perhaps Amanda and James will land on the same tribe, with Parvati and Ozzy on the other tribe. Alexis was shown cooing over the idea of spending time with Ozzy, when Kathy got sent yet again to Exile. That seems to me to foreshadow that Ozzy and Alexis end up on the same tribe. The scene with Parvati and Eliza walking and talking could be as much about whatever it was they were discussing during their stroll, as a foreshadow that these two women end up on a tribe together and HAVE to work together.
What of the main alliance we've seen at the Fans' tribe? The chances are that Chet, Kathy and Tracy will be split up, yet we saw Tracy working to save them. Maybe her brilliant move will come back to bite her in the butt, earning a label of "pushy" or overbearing. I'm sure a lot of people moaned about having to keep Chet even as they wrote his name down. Hell, even Chet seemed relieved at the thought he was leaving. Isn't it likely the ones we saw moaning about keeping Chet and booting Mikey will end up on the same tribe as Chet? Likewise, isn't it likely that James will end up on the same tribe as Eliza? It'll be fun to find out how the swap shakes out. I'm really looking forward to it!
I'm hopeful we'll get to see more of people who've been rather hidden, like Ami and Jason. Especially Jason.

He does look like a young Jon Bon Jovi, doesn't he? What a cutie! Too bad he's been so miserable. I hope he cheers up post-swap.
OTHER HIGHLIGHTS of EPISODE 4
Ozzy
Isn't Ozzy magnificent? I hope I'm not the only one enjoying revisiting his marvelous abilities. I know that people who don't particularly care for him were impressed by his ability to hold his breath underwater. I had a brief moment of wondering, "What the hell is he doing?" as the Fans put one, two, three coconuts into their basket, while Ozzy remained submerged. Then the camera took us underwater to observe him and the reason for his tardiness. On one breath he was maneuvering half the coconuts along the 30 ft cage to its mouth, to make it easier for his tribemates to take their turns retrieving coconuts. At long last he resurfaced and lobbed the first Favorite coconut into the receptacle. Huge cheers! Raucous applause!!!
Perhaps it was unwise of him to put his abilities on such display. On the other hand, it's not as if everyone didn't know coming into the game that he possessed great swimming talent. I think his current tribemates would have felt cheated if there had been no first-hand evidence made available for them to witness and benefit from.
Then he's sent to Exile Island, where he shows off more skills: hacking coconuts, catching fish, and following all the clues for the HII to their proper conclusion.

While the fake idol didn't look anything like the real one shown here, and probably won't fool anyone, the same cannot be said of Ozzy's performance at the commencement of the IC. Ozzy remained cool and collected when answering Jeff's question, minimizing his abilities by stating that the puzzle was "a lot harder" than he thought it would be.
Tracy
After last week's disappearing act, Tracy came back with a vengeance this week. Her main scenes occurred post IC, once the tribe knew they would have to boot somebody. Tracy worked on Joel convincing him that getting rid of one of her group of 3 was the worst possible thing Joel could do. She played to his ego, scoffing at him "rolling over" for Mikey and doing Mikey's bidding. It was a thing of beauty and one of the best moves ever made in the history of the show, especially since she got him to do HER bidding.
James
Solving the RC puzzle and identifying the word "Triumphant" as spelled out by the coconuts marks the first solid contribution from James to the show so far. He's had very little positive screentime, having spent most of the show thus far alternating between being Parvati's love interest and being a general moaner & whiner. Do you suppose there's a connection?

OTHER LOWLIGHTS of EPISODE 4
Chet
vidcap by Merely
Sorry to burn your retinas, but that shot really sums up Chet's whole game, doesn't it?
Editing provided a short montage of Chet's lack of contribution around camp. While others worked he looked on from a sitting position and from a bathing in shallow water position. Just the usual MB-directed misleads. First Chet fails at a challenge, then he fails to do any work around camp, then he avoids being deservedly booted. Twice.
To coin a phrase...

Kathy
Three visits to Exile Island and no HII to show for it? That's sad and pathetic. Add in her "excitement" to spend time with Ozzy, followed by her non-participation in the hunt for the idol. Not that I'm really complaining about it; I'm happy that she doesn't know he found it. Even though her edit has been toned down a great deal, I'm tired of her.
OTHER FUNNY MOMENTS WORTH REMEMBERING
There were a few, actually.
Jonathan whining that Cirie is more manipulative than anyone, is so pot/kettle. I think he's just jealous that she outmaneuvered him.
How about when the Fans got dinner because an eel washed ashore? That's on a par with the other worst tribes ever in the history of the show. Alexis commented about hot dogs for some reason. If someone else knows what that was all about, let me know. I have a hard time seeing Alexis - she's kind of invisible to me. Maybe she will get more of a personality post-tribe swap.
Jason's remark that his momma would spank him if he was as lazy as Chet got me thinking naughty thoughts. Was I the only one?
James' comment about Eliza struck him funny, "You're sick AND you got attitude." What made me laugh was Amanda's face onscreen when his words received the subtitle, making it appear that she had actually been allowed to say something.

I love when a tribe wins chickens. Cirie got the comment of the segment, telling the chickens to rest "in pieces." Not very original, but worth a smile.
Tracy's rebuttal comment at Tribal Council that she, Chet & Kathy have all sat out of challenges, and still the tribe lost, was funny yet poignant. I have to wonder if anyone who'd been fence-sitting on the Chet v Mikey issue was convinced by her comment.
Even though I wanted Tracy to be successful, I laughed at Jason's vote for Chet: "PLEASE leave the island." That's how I'm feeling about Chet now, too.
Looking forward to this week's episode very much!! I hope it lives up to my expectations.
