LOOK HOW BIG OUR Sun IS COMPARED TO ALL THE PLANETS IN ITS ORBIT. (Note: the banner usually posted here is presently in the Hot Topics forum.) Think about the millions of lights in the night sky, and that those are stars and suns, many of which likely have a collection of dangly objects spinning around them just like our Sun. Probability favors the existence of other planets like our Solar System, and at least one either has life or fossils and relics and the like. The many lights in the night sky, visible to the naked eye alone (but THEN factor in the fact of how many appear with the aid of powerful telescopes mounted on spacecraft sent into space. We have a LOT of information. Eternity as a concept has a more solid feel to it than ever before. The life of an individual human can be a life filled with joy, delight, discovery all of our own choosing. Therein lies the challenge: rationality must be chosen. It is not the default position. Being a dumb animal is. If other Earths have found their way to us, it is to tell us that following how existence made us is learning to think for oneself. Many planets are capable of sustaining life, for having the right distance from the source of heat and light to take advantage of the opportunity. Life begins with water and oxygen, carbon and hydrogen. Light gases that can mix and match to do all sorts. How ARE planets made? Why is there a stream of little blobs of rock spinning around the Sun? Could our planets be in the midst of being dragged towards the Sun? Could THAT be the true cause of global warming? Maybe we're really being drawn closer towards the Sun. Maybe we need to figure out how to put out a restraining order on the Sun, tell it to keep just so far away from us. Maybe the Sun spits planets out of its great garbage can of an interior. Maybe we should be giving something back to the Sun. MAYBE we ought to load the nuclear waste onto spacecraft and aim the craft at the Sun. "Here, Sun, I'm interested in prolonging your life and my own.
